La Marina de Estados Unidos divulgó este jueves nuevas imágenes de operaciones a bordo del buque de asalto anfibio USS Iwo Jima (LHD 7), que se encuentra en su trayecto hacia el Mar Caribe acompañado por la 22ª Unidad Expedicionaria de Marines (MEU), una fuerza de despliegue rápido entrenada para operaciones especiales.
En las fotografías se observan maniobras de aseguramiento y despliegue de aeronaves como los convertiplanos MV-22B Osprey, los cazabombarderos AV-8B Harrier y los helicópteros de ataque AH-1Z Cobra, todos asignados al escuadrón “Thunder Chickens” del Cuerpo de Marines.
La Armada estadounidense resaltó que el Iwo Jima Amphibious Ready Group (IWO ARG) está preparado para responder de forma inmediata y global a crisis, con operaciones las 24 horas del día para disuadir adversarios, respaldar aliados y garantizar mares libres y abiertos.
