La Marina de Estados Unidos difundió las primeras imágenes de las operaciones militares a bordo del buque de asalto anfibio USS Iwo Jima (LHD 7), que se encuentra desplegado en el Atlántico rumbo al Caribe junto al 22º Cuerpo Expedicionario de Marines – Fuerza de Operaciones Especiales (MEU-SOC).

Las fotografías, tomadas el domingo 24 y lunes 25 de agosto, muestran maniobras aéreas y ejercicios de combate, entre ellas el reabastecimiento y despegue de aviones AV-8B Harrier, la operación de helicópteros MH-60-S Seahawk, prácticas de morteros en la cubierta del hangar y la carga de misiles RIM-7 Sea Sparrow y lanzadores de defensa antiaérea.
